Earlier this year, Salesforce co-founder Parker Harris asked a question his own company had spent 25 years making unnecessary. Why should you ever log into Salesforce again?
Then Salesforce answered it. Headless 360 turned the platform into APIs, MCP tools, and CLI commands. Claudeforce put Salesforce data and workflows inside Anthropic's Claude. Agentforce ARR crossed $1.5 billion, up more than 240% year over year.
Dreamforce 2026 runs September 15–17 at Moscone Center, with 1,600+ breakout sessions and 50+ keynotes. Most attendees will fly home with a notebook full of demos.
Five things decide whether you fly home with something better.
1. Salesforce No Longer Sells You a Screen
Headless 360, announced at TDX in April, exposes the platform's capabilities as APIs, MCP tools, and CLI commands. Claudeforce, announced August 26, went further. Salesforce in Claude ships 37 prebuilt sales skills that let sellers run pipeline reviews and take governed action without opening Salesforce at all.
It is the first time Salesforce has attached its "force" suffix to another company's product. Everest Group read the move plainly: the contested layer is now the harness around the model, not the model itself.
Every commercial assumption built on seats and screens deserves a second look this quarter.
Takeaway for the CIO: Decide which workflows leave the Salesforce UI in FY27, then ask your account team what that does to your seat-based renewal.
2. Watch AIforce, Not the Agent Demos
On the Q2 earnings call, Marc Benioff said a large slate of AIforce would be unveiled at Dreamforce, but provided no details. Constellation Research describes it as an enterprise harness built over three years that connects data, permissions, and context across multiple systems and AI models. Claudeforce already runs on it.
Agent demos will fill the keynote clips. The harness determines whether any of it survives contact with your SAP instance, your identity provider, and your audit requirements.
Watch for how permissions, lineage, and logging travel outside Salesforce. That detail decides your integration cost, not the agent's response quality.
Takeaway for IT and platform leaders: Judge AIforce on whether identity, entitlements, and audit trails propagate to non-Salesforce systems. Ask that question in every architecture session you attend.
3. Your Data Foundation Sets the Ceiling
Data 360 ingested 104 trillion records in Q2, up 355% year over year, including 82 trillion through Zero Copy. The platform side is moving fast.
The enterprise side is not. Deloitte's August 2026 survey of 501 US leaders found only 5% consider their business processes highly prepared for AI agents. 72% cited the absence of a unified data foundation as a barrier. Just one in five said they were ready to redesign processes for autonomous operation.
Sessions like "Data 360: Your Trusted Foundation for Agentforce" are worth more than any agent showcase, because grounding failures do not appear in demos. They appear in production, three months later, as wrong answers delivered confidently to customers.
Takeaway for data and AI leaders: Bring three questions your agents must answer correctly. Test whether your current data model can ground them before you commit budget.
4. Agent Sprawl Creates Governance and Cost Exposure
Agent Fabric has coordinated agents across enterprises since September 2025, and now scans for agents running on Amazon Bedrock and Microsoft Foundry. LLM Governance in AI Gateway gives central visibility of token usage, costs, and data flows.
The reason is arithmetic. Salesforce customers drove 3.2 billion Agentic Work Units in Q2, up 97% from the previous quarter. Consumption-based AI turns agent behavior into an operating expense that moves weekly. Unmonitored agents do not just create risk. They create invoices.
Governance discussions at Dreamforce should cover discovery, ownership, spend limits, human intervention points, and decommissioning. Anything less is a policy document, not a control.
Consolidation is the other half of this. Salesforce reports that more than 180 organizations replaced legacy support tools with Agentforce IT Service within four months of general availability. Every one of those moves is a migration, and migrations are where governance debt is either cleared or carried forward. iOPEX built MigrAIte for that transition: agentic AI-powered migration onto Salesforce's AI-native Agentforce IT Service, using existing Salesforce platform capabilities rather than standing up a parallel stack. See it demonstrated at our booth.
Takeaway for CISOs and ITSM leaders: An agent without a named owner, a spend cap, and a documented kill switch is an incident waiting for a ticket. Inventory yours before you scale.
5. Only Production Stories Deserve Your Time
Gartner expects more than 40% of agentic AI projects to be canceled by the end of 2027, citing escalating costs, unclear business value, and inadequate risk controls. Deloitte found only 15% of organizations have scaled orchestrated, cross-functional multi-agent adoption.
Salesforce reports that accounts running agents in production grew 70% sequentially. Those are the customers worth cornering at the Campground.
When you meet them, skip the transformation narrative. Ask what they decommissioned. Ask their containment rate and what happens when an agent escapes. Ask how long it took to move from pilot to production, and what broke in month two. The answers separate a repeatable operating pattern from a well-funded demo.
Takeaway for CX and service leaders: Ask every customer on stage for containment rate, escalation rate, and cost per resolved contact. Anything vaguer than that is marketing.
What to Bring Home
The wrong output from Dreamforce is a long innovation backlog with no sequencing. The right output is small and specific: a handful of funded use cases, known dependencies, explicit decision gates, and a named owner for each next step.
That is the conversation iOPEX came for. As a Salesforce Summit and Consulting partner, we run ServiceOps and RevenueOps as managed operations rather than projects, with elevAIte connecting enterprise context to agents across Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP, and adjacent systems.
Across our managed engagements: 90%+ autonomous resolution on complex multi-agent case workflows, 80%+ touchless progression of deals through quote-to-cash, 60% average cost reduction per automated interaction, 4.9 CSAT, and 75+ agents running in production rather than in pilot.
Find us at Booth #532, near Theater 1. Bring a workflow, and we will walk it against service, sales, marketing, and operations agents, your data model, and your governance constraints. You can pre-book that conversation and skip the booth queue.
Pints + Perspectives, our invite-only meetup, runs on Tuesday, September 15, at 5:30 PM. It exists for the Agentforce conversations that never fit into a 15-minute breakout. Request an invitation here.
